Morning betting tips 9.9.2026 – five sports

Five selections have been picked for the morning publication from the evening and early-night schedule: Liiga, the Women's Basketball World Cup, the Champions League, the US Open and MLB. Three of the service's four settled tips have landed, but a small sample alone does not predict the future.

Jukurit – HIFK – HIFK to win (incl. overtime) @ 1.60

HIFK have started the season with a win over HPK and a defeat to TPS, while Jukurit's record after three matches is one win and two defeats. At such an early stage, the league table should be read with caution, but the away side's greater squad depth and higher-quality scoring potential tilt the assessment towards HIFK.

Overtime and the shootout are included in this market, which reduces the draw risk. Odds of 1.60 imply a 62.5 per cent threshold; my estimate for an HIFK match win is around 65 per cent. The difference is modest, so this is more a small price edge than a major betting opportunity.

Puerto Rico – Kiina – Puerto Rico +10 points @ 1.83

Kiina are deserved favourites because of their size and superior shooting accuracy: the team have made 32.8 per cent of their three-pointers in the tournament, compared with just 25.9 per cent for Puerto Rico. The outright winner market is not the most appealing, however, as Puerto Rico's ball security and active defence support the Handicap.

Puerto Rico have turned the ball over only 13 times per match on average compared with Kiina's 19.3, and have made 9.3 steals per game. Imani McGee-Stafford's strength on the boards also provides an opportunity to match up with Han Xu inside. I estimate that Puerto Rico will stay within nine points with around 59 per cent probability, while the odds require around 54.6 per cent.

Liverpool – Atlético Madrid – Under 2.5 goals @ 2.25

Liverpool have scored in nine consecutive competitive matches, so the high Under odds are understandable. Atlético, however, are short in attack heading to Anfield: Alexander Sørloth is unavailable, and Julián Álvarez has not been assessed as fit to start. The team's seven goals at the start of the season have also come with finishing clearly more efficient than expected goals.

Liverpool are without Hugo Ekitike, and Atlético are likely to protect their own penalty area after the 0–3 defeat to Athletic. I estimate Under 2.5 goals to land with around 48 per cent probability; odds of 2.25 imply 44.4 per cent. The risk in this selection is Liverpool's attacking ability to decide the game early.

Karen Khachanov – Alexander Blockx – Khachanov to win @ 1.73

Khachanov has knocked out third seed Félix Auger-Aliassime and 14th seed Learner Tien in the tournament. He also has experience of two previous Grand Slam semi-finals, which carries weight under the pressure of a five-set quarter-final.

Blockx has been one of the tournament's success stories, but he suffered a side injury against Cerúndolo and said he had considered retiring. Two days of recovery may be enough, but the injury particularly weakens his serve and rotational movement. I estimate Khachanov's win probability at around 64 per cent, while odds of 1.73 imply 57.8 per cent.

Texas Rangers – Seattle Mariners – Rangers to win @ 2.36

Rangers go into the match with a 71–73 record and Seattle are 67–77. The market prices Mariners as clear favourites, but numberFire's match model estimates Rangers to win 55.3 per cent of simulations. That is considerably more than the 42.4 per cent implied by odds of 2.36.

Kade Anderson and Cody Bradford have been announced as the starting pitchers. In baseball, variation in a single game is high, and the model difference alone does not remove the risk from the bullpen and line-up changes. At the current price, Rangers' underdog odds are nevertheless among the evening's most interesting gaps between probability and market price.
